About Carla
Carla is the Founder and Executive Director of New Surroundings Recovery, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women rebuild their lives through safe, supportive recovery housing and community-based services. Inspired by personal experiences with loss, grief, and the impact addiction has on families, Carla has devoted herself to creating opportunities for women to find stability, hope, and a path forward.
Carla's commitment to recovery work was born not from professional training alone, but from personal experience with loss, grief, and the devastating impact addiction can have on individuals and families. After losing loved ones to addiction, she developed a deep understanding of the importance of support, compassion, accountability, and second chances.
Carla believes that recovery extends beyond the individual and that restoring family relationships is one of the most powerful tools for lasting change. Her work focuses not only on helping women achieve sobriety and independence, but also on rebuilding connections between mothers, children, families, and communities.
Carla is known for her hands-on leadership style, unwavering dedication, and willingness to meet people where they are. Whether she is helping a resident navigate recovery, advocating for community resources, writing grant applications, coordinating transportation, or simply offering encouragement during a difficult day, her goal remains the same: to help people discover that their past does not define their future.

About New Surroundings Recovery
New Surroundings Recovery was founded on the belief that every woman deserves the opportunity to rebuild her life in a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused environment. As a nonprofit recovery residence, we provide structured housing and comprehensive support services for women overcoming addiction, incarceration, homelessness, treatment transitions, and other significant life challenges.
Our mission is to empower women to achieve lasting recovery, restore family relationships, develop life skills, and regain independence. We recognize that recovery is about more than simply abstaining from substances—it is about healing from trauma, rebuilding self-worth, creating healthy relationships, securing employment, and developing the tools necessary for long-term success.
At New Surroundings Recovery, residents receive more than a place to live. They become part of a community that promotes accountability, personal growth, and peer support. Through recovery meetings, life skills development, employment assistance, transportation support, goal planning, and community engagement, we help women build a strong foundation for the future.
What makes our program unique is our commitment to family restoration. We understand that addiction impacts not only the individual but also the people who love them. Our goal is to help women reconnect with their children, families, and support systems while creating healthier and more stable lives. When one woman recovers, entire families begin to heal.
Founded by individuals whose lives have been personally affected by addiction and loss, New Surroundings Recovery was created from a deep desire to help others find hope, stability, and purpose. We believe that recovery is possible for every woman who is willing to do the work, and we are honored to walk alongside them on that journey.
Through compassion, structure, accountability, and unwavering support, New Surroundings Recovery is helping women transform their lives, strengthen their families, and become productive members of their communities. Our vision is a future where every woman has the opportunity to recover, thrive, and build a life she is proud to live.
